A Laser Light Show Of Awesomeness – EEE PC Netbook Critique
I uninstalled Norton immediately and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials. I can live with Windows 7 starter but Office 2010 starter is horrible, the biggest problem being that the right 1/3 of the screen is consumed by ads and you cannot change the settings.
Also be aware that netbooks don’t come with a CD-ROM. They require an external CD ROM which can be purchased for $15 and up depending on what u want. I purchased this at a small military retail outlet at a fairly remote location in the Middle East and it came out of the box undamaged and ready to go, with no problems. This is a great buy and I’m pleasantly surprised by the NB505′s capabilities, capacity and quality.
People who expect this to run and do all the things a desktop or full size/function laptop do are being silly. It’s not what this is for.
YouTube videos and Netflix runs great on this. It does not have as much “bloatware” as some other units and comes preloaded with Google chrome aside from IE 8.
I tweaked it a bit but that is further proof that it is a great machine – and it is able to be customized with little effort. My sister quickly noted the nice orange color. This is a word processing package that is perfect for anything she needs to do and lacks for nothing. It was easy to download the printer driver so she can print out all her schoolwork with ease. Especially since “cloud” computing and Web based applications are more prominent now. I completely wipe the netbook and install Ubuntu Linux (Netbook Remix Edition).
I have used the NB505 for about a month on trips and meetings and it has performed well. Great keyboard, decent screen, good battery life, small size for travel, good wireless connectivity, and a reasonable price.
Unlike others who have noted sticky keys, I have had no problems at all with the keyboard. The touchpad is a bit oversensitive, but overall it is not too bad and I don’t get annoyed when I use it. I bought this computer a few weeks ago and so far my experience has been very positive. This netbook is solidly constructed and is ready to use out of the box.
The Word and Excel starter would work for most people if they were not inclined to buy the full suite. Great value and meets my needs as an easily portable laptop for travel. I asked a lot of question from the younger folks where I work and went with their advice. I have made the journey from Dos, the first Windows and everything in between to now Windows 7. After getting the right module, upgrading the memory module was very easy. I have only had this for two days and so far love everything about it. I have had this netbook for 8 months. This is not a bad computer and pretty simple to use.
I was watching Resident Evil: Afterlife with 1GB, and it stuttered constantly. contemporary coffee tables.
